DE QUEEN – More than 860 cases of Girl Scout cookies were received for distribution at the Maintenance facility of Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas, according to Financial Aid Secretary Amanda Fulgium. Fulgium is also the leader of Girl Scout troop 501, which is based in De Queen.
“We are pleased that the College allowed us to distribute the cookies from their warehouse for the second year in a row,” said Fulgium. “Having a distribution point that is so convenient for everyone really takes a lot of the strain out of coordinating such a large effort.” She noted that sales were up more than 25% this year over 2004, increasing the total case count from the low 600s to 869. She added that a girl in one troop sold more than 600 boxes, or more than 50 cases, by herself. Cookie distribution will begin immediately. Additional cookies will be available by order through March 20th, or through booth sales at several locations across Sevier County. Contact Carol Dawkins at 870-832-2263 to place an order.
Cossatot Community College offers both technical certification and Associate’s degrees in a wide range of fields on its campus at De Queen, at extension sites at Nashville and Ashdown, and at cccua.edu. CCCUA collaborates with other colleges and universities to offer bachelor's and master's degrees on its three campuses. It has an enrollment of more than 1,100 students, and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
