March 10, 2017
Lockesburg Lions Club held a fundraiser dinner on March 2, 2017 to benefit the UA Cossatot Foundation.
The event was well attended and was a show of support from community leaders in Lockesburg. The Club raised $3,000 to continue the restoration of the UA Cossatot - Bank of Lockesburg Historical Gymnasium. The event featured a meal, guest speaker, and silent auction
"The generosity of the Lockesburg Lions and the community at this event was overwhelming," UA Cossatot Chancellor and Lockesburg native, Dr. Steve Cole, stated. "We are excited to be partnering with the community to restore a historic landmark. We look forward to the project's completion and to the gymnasium, once again, becoming a community hub."
The UA Cossatot Foundation would like to thank the following Lions Club members for their consideration and generosity: Ceci Bettell, Rev. Terry Chapman, Donna Coulter, Betty Currence, Kenneth Currence, Barbara Dixon, Donna Gallaher, Zebbie Launius, Charles Nash and Susie Thompson.
Lions around the world have been changing lives for 100 years through humanitarian service. This 100th year is a time to mark the centennial milestone, celebrate the Lions' legacy, and look forward to the next century of service.
UA Cossatot Foundation representative, Dustin Roberts, remarked, "Lockesburg Lions Club is certainly leaving a legacy in Southwest Arkansas."
