UA Cossatot Hosts Colts Classic
February 22, 2016
UA Cossatot hosted almost 1400 high school students from across the state at the 4th
Annual Colts Classic FFA Judging Contest. Students from as far away as Pocahontas and all across the state gathered at the UA Cossatot Amphitheater for the opening and welcome by Chancellor Dr. Steve Cole before dispersing to the different locations for contests.
“It takes so many people to be able to host this contest,” said UA Cossatot Agriculture Instructor Kelli Harris. “I am afraid to leave out any of our partners but Pilgrim and the UA Extension Service always help with poultry and livestock judging. Plus, almost every employee of UA Cossatot helps in some way to make the contest successful.”
Similar contests are held across the state each year but the Colt Classic has proved to be one of the largest.
“This is one of the biggest contests we attend,” said Antonette Worthey, De Queen FFA Contest participant. “Most of our contests do not have this much competition or students.”
Plans are already underway for the contest next year.
