The UA Cossatot Colts and Lady Colts won against Arkansas Baptist College on Monday, March 1 at the UA Cossatot Bank of Lockesburg Historic Gymnasium.

The Lady Colts downed Arkansas Baptist College 73-66 for their first win of the season. ABC scored the first 6 points of the game and was up by 3 when Mikayla Scott scored 7 straight as the Lady Colts went on a 10 point run in the first half and led 42-38 at intermission. Scott finished with 19 points. A'Naysia Jefferson, Laquesha Clark, Kaylee Brooks, and Kyaira Jackson each had 12 for the Lady Colts.

Meanwhile, the UA Cossatot men's team rode a 40 point performance from Terry Anderson to a 104-97 victory over the Buffaloes. Anderson was joined in double figures by Micah Yarber. With 16, Dillon Cheater with 15, Cameron Maxwell 13, and Kamren Woods with 11. The Colts led by 2 at the half and Arkansas Baptist hit a 3-pointer early in the second half to take the lead. Devin Howlin came off the bench with UA Cossatot down by 5, to give the Colts a spark and he finished the game with 9 points.

Head Coach and Athletic Director, Robert Byrd said, “For the women’s team, it was a hard-fought battle, but we were able to make timely shots and get necessary stops to secure our first win of the season. We look forward to building on that momentum. For the men’s team, our guys came out with really great focus and controlled the game early on. Arkansas Baptist made runs throughout the entire game but our guys were able to sustain those runs and secure the win.”


Up next on the schedule, UA Cossatot will host National Park Community College in a pair of conference matchups this Saturday, March 6 at the UA Cossatot Bank of Lockesburg Historic Gymnasium.
