The UA Cossatot basketball teams lost a pair of road conference contests Saturday, February 27 at ASU Mid-South.

The Lady Colts fell 79-35. UA Cossatot trailed 29-15 at the half, but the Lady Greyhounds opened up the second half with an 8-point run and coasted to the victory. Mikayla Scott led the Lady Colts with 9 points.

In the men’s game, the Colts raced to an early 9-point lead over the four-time defending conference champions and led for all but the final 2:30 of the first half. However, Mid-South’s depth proved too much for the Colts as they dropped their second straight conference game 89-70. Dillon Cheater led UA Cossatot with 17 points. Cameron Maxwell and Kamren Woods each had 13, while Micah Yarber added 11.

Head Coach and Athletic Director, Robert Byrd said, “For the women’s team, they did a solid job competing against one of the top teams in the country. We have to find a way to convert on our open looks if we want a chance at winning ball games. For the men’s team, the guys really competed at a high level for 31 minutes of the game but, Mid South’s depth, turning the ball over, and not hitting the glass really hurt us in the last 9 minutes.”

The UA Cossatot teams host Arkansas Baptist College Monday, March 1 at the Bank of Lockesburg Historic Gym. The Lady Colts tip-off at 5 PM, with the men’s game to follow. Every UA Cossatot game can be watched on ed88radio.com.
