In 2017, Tyson Foods launched an internship program for college students in connection with the University of Arkansas Cossatot.  Paid internship positions in refrigeration and maintenance were made available year-round to any UA Cossatot student enrolled in industrial technology courses with starting pay ranging from $12 - $14 per hour and are now available at Tyson’s Broken Bow and Nashville facilities.  Donna Duggan, Complex Human Resource Manager, says “We are very fortunate to partner with UA Cossatot and provide the opportunity of an Internship to the students.  We look forward to what the future holds in bringing us the talent from our area.”

Kory Voss and Matthew Swilley are two of many students reaping the rewards of the internship.  Voss a May 2020 UA Cossatot Industrial Technology graduate was recently signed on as a full-time employee at Tyson’s Broken Bow facility.  Swilley, a current Industrial Technology student at UA Cossatot, is obtaining valuable skills sets in the classroom while gaining valuable work experience.   Tyson Foods Senior Maintenance Jerry Bruns and Refrigeration Supervisor Larry Cogburn, oversee the work of the interns at Tyson’s Broken Bow facility and provide student’s real-world experiences that give them the chance to apply what they are learning.
