State Authorization

The state of Arkansas has approved Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary education.

The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) establishes a state-level reciprocity process that will support the nation in its efforts to increase the educational attainment of its people by making state authorization:

  • more efficient, effective, and uniform in regard to necessary and reasonable standards of practice that could span states;
  • more effective in dealing with quality and integrity issues that have arisen in some online/ distance education offerings; and
  • less costly for states and institutions and, thereby, the students they serve.

Distance learning students from out of state should attempt to resolve any issues or complaints with UA Cossatot first. Procedures for filing a complaint can be found HERE (link here https://www.cccua.edu/student-life/student-policies). However, if an issue cannot be resolved internally, you may file a complaint about Edison State Community College with your state by referring to the list of State Agencies in compliance with federal Department of Education regulations. You may also contact our accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission.

Additional NC-SARA Complaint information can be found here. NC-SARA Physical Presence information can be found by clicking here. NC-SARA Field Experiences information can be located here. To learn more about NC-SARA, click here.

NOTE  California is the only state that has not joined SARA
