De Queen, Arkansas –The University of Arkansas Cossatot is proud to announce a major achievement, surpassing its graduation rate goal in its 2020-2025 Strategic Plan. With a current graduation rate of 54%, the college has exceeded its target of 50%, demonstrating the effectiveness of its continued focus on academic excellence, student support, and community engagement.

The 54% graduation rate, as reported by the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), represents a significant milestone in the college’s long-term vision for student success. The goal to reach 50% was set in 2020 to reach by July 2025, and achieving a 54% graduation rate showcases the college’s ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for its students and providing a supportive learning environment.

“We are incredibly proud to not only meet but exceed the goal we set in our strategic plan,” said Dr. Ashley Aylett, Vice Chancellor for Academics at UA Cossatot. “This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, and staff. By creating an environment where students can thrive, we are helping them achieve their academic goals and set the foundation for their future success.”

UA Cossatot’s success can be attributed to the comprehensive student support systems implemented as part of its strategic initiatives. These efforts include enhanced academic advising, tutoring services, career counseling, and targeted financial aid assistance, all aimed at ensuring students remain on track for graduation and are equipped for the next steps in their careers or further education.

According to UA Cossatot Chancellor Dr. Steve Cole, the college has come a long way in making this goal a reality. "Wow. It is amazing that traditionally, many years ago, two-year colleges would routinely have graduation rates in the 10-15% range, and now to see the norm be 50% and higher is a testament to the changes of commitment and quality now offered at many two-year colleges. Trust me, it is a college-wide effort to achieve these lofty goals, and UA Cossatot is always up for a challenge when it comes to giving our students the best education possible. This is incredible stuff."

The college’s goal was not only to raise the graduation rate but also to foster a supportive academic environment that empowers students to achieve their fullest potential. The 54% graduation rate is a strong indication that these efforts are making a meaningful impact, as UA Cossatot continues to be a vital resource for the community and a stepping stone for students pursuing further academic and career opportunities.

As a member of the University of Arkansas System, UA Cossatot provides affordable, high-quality education, equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for their future careers and continued education. The college’s success in exceeding its graduation rate goal is just one example of its ongoing dedication to student achievement.
